Olivier Milleron, cardiologist, member of the Inter-hospital Collective, demands an increase in salaries at the end of the Ségur de la santé, but also a change in the method of financing the public hospital.
“I imagine that Jean Castex understood that, for the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, the public hospital file will be fundamental”said Monday July 6 on franceinfo Olivier Milleron, cardiologist, member of the Inter-hospital Collective. “I don’t see how he could not respect the commitments of the president”, he added. The new Prime Minister says he wants to conclude the Ségur de la santé “next week” and settle “short term” the pensions file, in an interview published on Sunday July 5 in the JDD.
“Emmanuel Macron had very strong speeches at the heart of the Covid crisis on a major catch-up plan for the public hospital”recalled Olivier Milleron, “on the welfare state which is not a cost but a precious good for everyone.”“All of this needs to be translated into action”otherwise “we are going to leave in a difficult situation and in conflicts.”
The Inter-hospital Collective hopes for an increase in salaries at the end of the Ségur de la santé. “Upgrades are mandatory and we hope there won’t be any disappointments on that side, that it won’t be the plane compared to what we asked for, that is to say 300 euros net for the lowest salaries”, added Olivier Milleron. He said he also wanted “a real change in the way politicians and government talk about public hospitals in this country.” He finally called “change the mode of financing” of the public hospital, based “on the basis of the care needs of the population, and not on accounting measures decided at Bercy.”
