Covid-19: towards a peak in hospital admissions at the beginning of September?

On the set of 23 hours of Franceinfo, Friday August 13, the journalist Leslie Cadiou relays the projections of the Pasteur Institute dating from August 5. She explains that if the rate of transmission remains the same, we could reach a peak in hospital admissions “early September, right during the start of the school year. The worst case scenario: we would expect 2,250 people admitted to the hospital daily”she points out.

The journalist explains that the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 could have a direct impact on the number of admissions. “If we accelerate vaccination and go to 800,000 injections per day, we would reach the figure of 1,500 people hospitalized each day. Which is still double compared to today: 836 people”says Leslie Cadiou.

Regarding critical care admissions (resuscitation and intensive care), “in the worst-case scenario, we would reach 550 people in critical care at the beginning of September. In the least worst-case scenario, we would reach 400 people, which again is still double compared to today: 188 people”explains Leslie Cadiou.
