On Wednesday June 24, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced that an envelope of six billion euros was going to be intended for nursing staff. “It seems vague to me, it’s just a figure (…) I think that above all we need personnel and that we work with adequate means”, says a nurse. Nurses, nursing assistants or even hospital technicians, working in public and private hospitals, but also in nursing homes, are concerned by this envelope.
Doctors’ salaries and hospital investments are not part of this negotiation. Intended to help a sector in crisis, this sum disappoints the unions. “It’s not even insufficient, it’s borderline insulting… Health professionals need a significant upgrade“, slice Patrick Bourdillon, federal secretary CGT health.
